First U.S. suburb seeking to set green standard
Arlington Heights Daily Herald - are teaming up with nonprofits and the government to canvas all 17,000 homes in the community, trying to encourage residents to upgrade their boilers, change to energy-efficient lighting, use better insulation and even invest in solar heating.

Winona Daily News - There was also discussion about solar water heating systems that can be cost effective for preheating swimming pools. LED lighting is another technology that uses less electricity, and the bulbs last forever, well almost.
